Early 28th Birthday

I know I've said it before, but my husband is AMAZING! I walked in the door after a long, very busy day at work, and there were tulips for me. They were on the table with a card that wishes me happy birthday and to tell me that we have a date at the tulip fields and dinner.










Aren't my flowers BEAUTIFUL? I sure think so :O)







I also have an AMAZING Mother. She sent me a package with this beautiful quilt! Brown. Pink. And stars. What could be better?







My Mom is very talented and I can't wait to find a place to hang my new quilt.




I absolutely LOVE it!!













My mom also made me this. Its a towel and an oven mite with a button. I love these!! They are so cool!

Well, all in all its been a great early birthday!

And a great way to end my 27th year!

Tomorrow is the first day of the best year of my life and...

I cant wait!

There are some things I am excited about:

*Number one would be that these plants are growing so well. I haven't seen any tomato's or Chines lanterns, at least that's what I think they are called. But non the less, they are all growing very well.

**Number two would be that Mr. Milo and little Miss. Bella have not eaten the tops off of any of the plants. The cucumbers and watermelon are so big now that I can't keep the lid on any longer.

***Number three would be that my husband loves me. He loves me very much actually! The other day I felt terrible. Well it started when we were talking a shower and all of a sudden I had a sharp pain in my stomach. Actually it started out as just an ache and then I was doubled over in pain. I should have stayed home but because I'm not really one to call in sick I went to work. That night Jake made me dinner and let me sleep all night long. Even tucked me into bed and gave me a kiss on the forehead before turning out the lights.

****Number four would be that tomorrow is Friday and then Saturday is my 28th birthday. Wow, 28 years old! Huh, who would have thought that I would have gotten married, bought a home, tired my hand at growing a garden, made it through a merger at work, and started trying to have a baby.

*****I am very excited to see what my 28th year brings...and what my husband gets me for my birthday. Maybe a puppy? I keep telling him one would make a great gift :O) I guess I will have to wait a few more days to find out.

Day 6 of my lil plants

I am beyond excited about my little garden! Every time I open the plastic cover there is more and more green. I can not wait for Jake and I to get started on the raised garden bed. That will be our project over the weekend. First thing in the morning we are on our way to Home Depot.

The watermelon is a little slower then the rest, but its working its way out little at a time.

The cucumber is growing the best!

I can't remember right now what these are but I'm excited to see 'em all grown and get them planted around the front yard.

Day 4 of the garden

I wanted to share a picture or two of the progress of my little seeds I planted on the 28th of March. I know its a little hard to see them, BUT there is a little green poking out of the soil! And each time I look at them there is more green!! I'm excited there is something actually growing. My fingers are crossed that they stay that way :O)

A lazy Sunday afternoon.

I have spent most of my Sunday doing a lot of nothing. Did a little cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, even some planting of my garden. All the while listening to music breathing in the fresh air and the smell of rain from the open windows.

I thought I would share some pictures of my afternoon, especially being that I haven't posted a real blog post for some time.

This is where I want to put my garden. Its going to take a lot of work before we can do any planting but this is where it will go. First all the gravel has to be removed and then I need to find something to hold the dirt in. I want it to be raised a little so I was thinking wood, you know the stuff that is rounded with two flat sides? I think that would be best. We will be able to look out the kitchen window and see our garden. I cant wait!

A few weeks ago I was at Walmart, to get New Moon actually, and found myself wandering around the garden area. I found this thing...not sure what to call it...that had little disks of dirt. Oh, kind of a greenhouse thing. But anyway, and I got it home, put some water in it and was a little disappointed there were no seeds already in the dirt. So on my grocery trip today I picked up several packs of seeds.

I got tomatos, pumpkins, lettuce, cabbage, and parsley. Along with corn, sun flowers, red sun flowers, some leafy things, and what else? I got a few small flowers, peas, and a few other things I cant remember right now. It was kind of fun playing in the dirt and planting them. I can't wait to get the garden area ready and to see the little plants start to grow.

I plan on taking pictures along the way of the little guys growing and when we get the garden area ready. I'm really excited to see it all together. I think the garden outside will be our project next weekend. Well at least I hope so, I still have to talk to Jake about it so we will see. I will keep you posted though.

The other thing I did today was get some canvas drawers to try to get a handle on my scrapbook area. I love to scrapbook but to be honest I have not done anything for a long time. I think our honeymoon book was the last one I did, I am so behind and I hope to be able to catch up on it soon. But in the mean time I had to do something to organize all of my stuff as best as I could.

I realize now that I should have taken a before and after picture so you could see the difference. I know its not much but it is 100% better then it was less then an hour ago. I think Jake will like it. I sure hope at least.

So funny story: These are Bella's favorite toy. We keep a basket full of toys between the dinning room and the kitchen full of toys for Milo and Bella. It is so cute to see them look for the toy they want, who said cats don't have personalities was WAY wrong. Milo likes the fluffy mice and Bella likes these...hair bands. I always wondered where she put them all, they just seem to disappear all the time and I was starting to worry that she might be eating them. When I started the 'organize scrapbook stuff' project I found these. A lot of them, maybe 20 or so. I thought it was pretty funny so I couldn't resist a picture.

Well, I'm off to finish the rest of the laundry, close the windows or my fingers and toes are going to freeze, and change the album on the iPod (I've listened to this one maybe 5 or 6 times already today.) I am also hopping to try cooking asparagus for the first time. I found a great recipe on weightwatchers.com for Lemon-Ginger Asparagus and I'm really excited to try it. Wish me luck :O)

Mermaid or Whale?

A SMART WOMAN'S THINKING FOR A HAPPY LIFE...
Recently, in a large city, a poster featuring a very young, extremely thin, dramatically tanned woman appeared in the window of a gym. The caption on the poster said, "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"A middle-aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

This is what she wrote:

To Whom It May Concern:
Here are the facts: Whales are always surrounded by friends such as dolphins, sea lions, even curious humans. They have an active sex life, get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins, stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia . Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and have virtually no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.On the other hand, Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because, according to mythology, they kill any men who get close to them. And, hello? how could they have sex? Just look at them ... where is IT? P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends. With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies.So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.So, as of today, when I look at my butt in the mirror instead of whining, I will think:

Good grief, look how smart I am!
