33 weeks

Wow, ok. So how much have I missed posting. There just never seems to be enough time in a day. Between work, sleep, eating, peeing, and more sleep.

After our doctors appointment today I figured this would be a good time. No, no don't worry. Everything is good. We didn't see our normal doctor, Dr. Roland, who's baby was due yesterday and still has not arrived. It was a little weird walking into the other side of the office and not seeing our normal doctor or nurse.

We didn't get to see the babies today, and that is not something I am use to. But we did get to hear both of their heart beats. (One of the most amazing sounds by the way.) Both hearts are strong and healthy. My belly is the same size as a full term pregnancy with one baby. So that explains why I am so uncomfortable and I don't expect that to get any better any time soon.

Our lower little one, Baby "A" also known as Hannah, is still head up. I'm not sure if at this point there is any room for her to turn around. So, because of that and a few other reasons, we scheduled a c-section for December 13th. I'm not sure if we will make it that long but we sure are going to try.

As of right now I am only working 4 hours a day and we hope that will help keep these little girls keep "cooking" as long as possible. And as much as I want to be done being being pregnant, I want the girls to be healthy and not have to stay in the hospital at all. I would love to be able to bring them home with us when I get to leave. Fingers crossed!

Well, I think that's it. I will try to update more often. Here is to 5 more weeks :O)

32 weeks = no sleep

Here it is, 3:05 am on Tuesday October 25th, and I am awake. Why you say? You think it is easy to sleep at this point? Absolutely not. On Friday, 4 days ago, we were measuring at 39 weeks. AKA the size of a full term singleton pregnancy. And I know I have grown in the last few days even.

I was reading my "What to Expect" book tonight thinking to myself that I was in for a long next couple of weeks. At this point, EACH girl is gaining about a half a pound a week. Thats ONE NEW POUND of baby each week! That just seems crazy to me. Oh man, where is all this weight going to go??? My tummy already feels really heavy at the end of the day. What is it going to be like in 2 weeks? Or in 4 weeks (if we can make it that long)?

Yesterday was my first day of working part time. It was really nice not having to go into work until 11 o'clock and being off at 3 o'clock. I had so much energy when I got home from work. I worked on organizing the Girls' room, again. But then about 4:30 or so I hit a brick wall and didn't regain any energy the rest of the night. My guess is that is my magic time to get things done before time for a nap.

I am very thankful to have such an amazing husband. Even though I was home first, and really should have started something good for dinner, he didn't mind. We ended up having pasta and veggies. And even that was a group effort. Thanks babe for not wanting a 3 course meal :O)

I am starting to get a little sleep right now, this blogging thing in the middle of the night might become a habit...at least until these little girls get here. I will try harder to update more than once every trimester.

Shower in Burlington

Yesterday we had our 2nd of 3 baby showers for Hannah and Hailey. It was at our house in Burlington and It was a lot of fun. I got to see some ladies from high school that I haven't seen for a long time. Plus ladies from work that we never just get to hang out. It was nice to see everyone and not have to think about work...just babies :O)

Katina, an amazing friend went all out for the showers with balloons, an awesome cake, and diaper cake to name a few. I will post more pictures of the shower when I get them from her. Thank you Katina for an awesome baby shower! I am very lucky to have you as a friend!!

One of the things we did was puffy paint onesies and bibs. Here are a few pictures of the finished products. I think they turned out pretty darn cool!

Above onesies done by Elizabeth.

Translation (only because I had to ask her)...I love mommy/daddy

Above made by Kellie

I can't wait to put the girls in these for their first Tiger Basketball game!!

Above is the back of the BE Tigers onesies.

We thought this would make them that much more adorable.

42 and 43 were Jake's numbers when he played basketball at North Central High School

Taron made the bib above. So stinkin' cute if you ask me :O)

Being that we are big BE Tiger fans I figured these were in order.

Cant not have a bib stating you are their number one fan.

I love how these turned out! Once they are all dry, I will post the pictures from the other ones. It was a great activity for a baby shower. Glad it all worked out :O)

Hannah and Hailey's room

Today I spent the day working on the Girl's room. I am so happy with how it has turned out so far. I still have a lot of butterflies to hang around the room. That might be a project for tomorrow though. Some of the butterflies are pretty small and I am not 100% sure how to hang them short of gluing them to the wall. I shall just sleep on it.

Here are some pictures of the room so far...

My mom suggested I put some moss or greenery on the sticks to add to the look :O)

We also got the valance hung up that my mom made. Again, these pictures don't do the colors justice. I love them! Can't wait for the blackout blinds my mom made too.

So there you have it. Pictures of their room. Now we haveat least 9 weeks or so until we get to meet our little girls. Can't wait!

Can't sleep

All I have to say is THIS SUCKS! I haven't slept a full night in at least 3 days. Yesterday was one of the longest days at work I have worked through. So tonight I had an early dinner and was in bed by 9pm. Awake at 1am to go pee and then asleep right away.

Until...2am. I thought the leg cramps I have had earlier were bad. They were NOTHING compared to this. It was horrible and wouldn't go away. And now, now I can't sleep. Each time I start to fall asleep it feels like my leg is going to cramp again and it wakes me up. I can't even put any pressure on my leg to walk. It hurts way to much. Walking to the bathroom is excruciating.

Needless to say, at 5:06 am on Tuesday morning (now 26 weeks) I am awake watching Happy Feet, eating toast and drinking milk. I really hope I will be able to sleep a little bit or today is going to be extremely long. I bet there will be a few breakdowns and lots of tears in my near future.

Pregnancy...easy???

Who ever said pregnancy was easy, especially the 2nd trimester, I have decided they are wrong.

Most woman get morning sickness, can't eat, loose weight, and so on in the first trimester. I was extremely lucky not to have any of those things. Other then being tired all the time (that hasn't gone away) I felt good. My stomach would get upset when I hadn't eaten actually. Especially with the increased amount of hormones from having two babies growing I figured I was screwed and would be sick all the time. It never happened thankfully.

And then bring on the 2nd trimester. Not so bad dealing with heartburn once in a while right? Go through a bottle of Tums, the value size, in a week and tell me it doesn't suck? The Tums alone are so not good. You would think that someone would have figured out by this point to make better flavors. But I guess not. And you know, the heartburn wasn't a constant thing so it wasn't that horrible. There were times where I wanted to just scream at the top of my lungs if that would help it go away though.

Then you have weight gain. I have always struggled with weight. I have done Weight Watchers several times, had success sometimes and other times not so much. But it is ingrained in my head not to eat a lot. As much as I have tried, I haven't gotten past that. And now, being almost 26 weeks pregnant I am out of room for food so I can't eat a lot. I have gained a little over 20 pounds in the last 26 weeks but I know I am still not where the doc wants me to be. I am trying. Trying to eat healthy and trying to eat enough so that these little growing babies get all they need plus enough for me. You hear about woman that have babies, full term mind you, and never knew they were pregnant. A lot of the time their babies are healthy despite the prenatal care and eating correctly. That just goes to show that the babies will take what they need from your body regardless of how much is left for you. I don't want to get to the point where I am unhealthy.

One sign of that could be these damn leg cramps I get. The cramps seems to be happening more and more often. I know it is common with pregnancy but that doesn't mean I have to like them. I hate them actually! It has gotten to the point where I know if I roll a certain way my leg will cramp. If I stretch while in bed my leg will cramp. If I sleep with my feet pointed my leg will cramp. And let me tell you, trying to to do those things and get a good night sleep...not easy. Not easy at all.

A leg cramp is actually what prompted this post at 7 o'clock in the morning on a Saturday. I am sure at this point Jake is used to me waking up in pain. I think a lot of the time he doesn't even open his eyes and just starts rubbing my leg where the cramp is. There have been times, a few weeks ago actually, where he got up before I did. And all of a sudden I get a leg cramp and yell for him. I hear the recliner slam shut and Jake run down the hall to the bed room. I could hear the panic in his voice asking what was wrong. The only thing I could say was "It hurts, it hurts!" It took a few seconds for him to realize I was talking about my leg not my stomach.

The cramp this morning was like nothing I have ever felt. It hurt so bad! I couldn't stop crying. The cramp would start to go away and we would both relax only to have it come back with a vengeance. Not just once but 3 times! It was horrible. I am so over these stupid leg cramps!

Some people tell me I need more calcium...with as much milk as I drink and as many Tums as I eat, I don't think that's what it is. Some people tell me I need to eat more bananas. And I have tried that. But did you know bananas can cause constipation? Yep. I have proved it. And constipation is one thing a pregnant woman does not need.

I am open to suggestions if anyone has any. I hate waking up in excruciating pain from a leg cramp.

Its a good thing the end result of a pregnancy is so amazing. I am not sure how many woman would have 2nd, 3rd, and so on babies if the birth of their child didn't outweigh the side effects of being pregnant.

Ok, well that is my little rant for this Saturday morning. I am off to finish reading the Help before Jake wakes up and we have to start cleaning the house and getting ready for the BBQ we are having for all the Tiger Basketball coaches that will coach under Jake this season. Wish me luck, I sure hope I have enough energy after getting up so early to be a good hostess.

Friday night fun

Most people, on Friday nights, go out. Have friends over. Go to sporting events.

In the Martyn house...we put together chairs and fold clothes. I am pretty sure these girls have more clothes then I do! This is just what we have gotten from friends. And does not include what I got this weekend from my sister-in-law and what has been purchased that still needs to be washed. We are not going to need any clothes smaller than 6 months. Just the larger sizes. Sheesh.

Tomorrow Jake is going to move my dresser that I have had for as long as I can remember into the Girls' closet. Their room is good sized but when you put two cribs, a rocking chair and a changing table in the room, the just isn't a lot of space left. Needless to say their dresser will be in the closet for the time being. With that happening tomorrow, I wanted to get some of the clothes organized by size and style so that I can put them in the drawers so they are no longer in plastic bags on the floor.

It will be nice to have just one more thing done and that much closer to meeting Hannah and Hailey :O)
